Pearl River Boil Advisory Lifted

CHOCTAW, Miss. — A precautionary boil water advisory issued last week for portions of the Pearl River Community Water System was lifted Wednesday after test results confirmed the water is safe to drink, tribal officials said.

The Choctaw Public Works Department announced the cancellation of the advisory, which had been in effect since Oct. 21.

The lifted notice applies to the following areas:

Addresses 887 to 1120 on Blackjack Road

All addresses on Jim Road

All addresses on Hummingbird Lane

All addresses on Nashoba Lane

Dixon Road

Officials advised residents in the affected service areas to take several precautions before resuming regular water use:

Flush household faucets for 10 minutes to draw fresh water through the plumbing system.

Discard ice, drinks, and food items prepared during the advisory period.

Wash dishes, silverware, and any items that came into contact with food or drinks using fresh water.

Flush water filters on faucets, refrigerators, and inline units as needed.

Run dishwashers through an empty cycle before using them to wash dishes.

Avoid drinking water drawn directly from water heaters until the tanks have completely cycled several times.
