STATEWIDE — The Mississippi State Fire Marshal’s Office has launched a public awareness campaign urging residents to use licensed professionals to install and inspect propane systems.
The campaign includes television commercials and an online search tool to help consumers find licensed providers, the Mississippi Insurance Department said.
“Propane is an important energy source for many Mississippi families, but safety must always come first,” State Fire Marshal Mike Chaney said. “Professional installation and regular inspections can help identify potential hazards before they become dangerous. We encourage consumers not to cut corners when it comes to protecting their loved ones.”
The office recommends following manufacturers’ maintenance and inspection guidance and knowing what to do if a propane leak is suspected. Residents can search for licensed providers at https://www.mid.ms.gov/sfmo/lcgas/#search.
