While helping the Meridian Police Department in the search for William Joe Garrett, wanted for Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in a Death, investigators uncovered evidence of another crime.
William Joe Garrett Arrested in Connection with Fatal Hit-and-Run in Meridian
On Wednesday, Garrett’s sister, Vicky L. Waters, was arrested and charged by the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department with Accessory After the Fact.
Authorities allege that Waters assisted Garrett in avoiding arrest following the fatal hit-and-run incident.
Waters has since posted a $25,000 bond and was released from the Lauderdale County Detention Facility.
Her case will be presented to the next available Grand Jury for further consideration.
The investigation into both cases remains ongoing, and authorities are asking anyone with additional information to contact the Meridian Police Department or the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department.
