A heartbreaking site came into view of CARA Board Charman Valerie Hicks yesterday as she was driving to the shelter in Jackson.
She saw a discouraged-looking black and white dog lying in a kennel on the side of Flag Chapel Road in Jackson.
As Valerie approached the kennel, she was shocked to see a litter of 9 babies cuddled up to the mom. She was heartbroken to see that one of the tiny puppies had already died.
Valerie loaded the terrified and traumatized mama dog into her vehicle, along with her puppies.
She drove them to the CARA, Community Animal Rescue and Adoption to get them looked over by the vet and settled into the shelter.
Animal shelters in Mississippi see things like this every single day.
As a community, it’s our job to come alongside them and help in any way that we can! If you can’t foster or adopt a dog, then please consider donating financially!
If you can’t donate financially, then at least sharing will help in a small way. We can all do our part, and we need to do our part.
