PHILADELPHIA, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – Deputies are searching for three people after a man was hit by an SUV, beaten and shot early Tuesday. Sheriff Eric Clark shared details of the Neshoba County shooting Tuesday morning on the StewDaddy Roadshow.
What happened
Clark said deputies got a call at about 1:45 a.m. The call came from the Pow Wow on Highway 16 West.
A man was walking across the parking lot, the sheriff said. Then a dark SUV hit him. Clark said the SUV was a charcoal gray or black Hyundai Palisade.
After that, a man got out of the SUV, Clark said. He then kicked and beat the victim while the victim was on the ground.
Then the victim got back up, the sheriff said. So the two men began fighting each other.
Meanwhile, a woman filmed the fight on her phone, Clark said. Next, another woman got out of the SUV. She took a handgun from the back seat and fired it, according to the sheriff. The bullet hit the victim in the leg.
The victim was lying on the ground after the shooting, Clark said. Then the group got back in the SUV. They backed up and ran over the victim, the sheriff said. So the man was hit by the SUV a second time.
Victim in stable condition
The victim was taken to Neshoba General Hospital. Clark said the man is in stable condition. His name has not been released.
The sheriff said the man was shot with a 9mm gun. Also, deputies found a shell casing at the scene. Deputies worked the scene from about 1:45 a.m. until about 3:30 a.m., he said.
Three people sought
The Neshoba County Sheriff’s Department is looking for three people. They are Joshua Burrage, Aaliyah King and Dakota Wallace. Clark did not say what role each person is accused of playing.
Please note: Queen City Newsfeed is not sure of the exact spelling of these names. So the spelling may be wrong. The names came from a radio interview, not an official press release. We will update this story if the spelling changes.
Investigators are looking at three counts of aggravated assault, the sheriff said. In Mississippi, aggravated assault is a felony. It often involves a weapon or a serious injury. Clark did not say if charges have been filed yet.
Also, anyone charged with a crime is innocent unless proven guilty in court.
