MERIDIAN, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – Local musicians from around the community gathered at the Brickhaus in Downtown Meridian for a benefit for Samm Jacquot.
Samm is a well-known local musician who recently lost her home during May’s severe weather outbreak.
“She is just an awesome guitar player, she was raised in bluegrass, a blue grass family band, so she learned how to flat pick a guitar. She’s just really amazing, but she’s a really humble person, so you’ll never hear her say that about herself. She’s very close to everyone in the music community and just the community itself,” said event co-coordinator Richelle Putnam.
Samm was able to leave her home and seek shelter, but when she returned, her home had been destroyed.
Putnam has known Samm for many years.
She said a variety of talent has shown up in support.
“The whole music community has come together to have this benefit for her to raise money to help her get a new home and just to get the bare essentials because she lost every thing,’ stated Putnam. “Britt Gully’s here. Grayson Culpepper Just played. Bryan Culpepper just played that beautiful music on the keyboards. Amy Lott will be here. Deanna and Dana, The Double D’s, they’re going to be getting up to play. We’re going to talk Samm into getting up and playing. “
Several local businesses and community members also donated to the silent auction, organized by Deanna Junkins.
