MERIDIAN, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – The MSU Riley Center in downtown Meridian is undergoing some restoration on its exterior.
The construction is happening on the side of the 5th street entrance.
Head of MSU Meridian Campus, Dr. Terry Dale Cruse, said the project is to restore stucco and windows that have weathered over the past 18 years.
“All in all, it’s over a $1 million project that’s completely funded by the Riley Foundation,” said Cruse. “In the meantime, it’s really not, other than directing people to a separate entrance on the 22nd Avenue side, it’s really not impeding our business at all. We’re still doing conferences and events. We have a concert, actually, Saturday night, so we’re conducting business as normal.”
“Nikki Lane will be here, I think it’s August 8th, and she’ll bring a great show to town. We’re real excited about having her, and then after that, at the end of the month, we kick off our year long performing arts series with Lorrie Morgan, so we’re excited to get all that started. As I said, people will just use the 22nd Avenue entrance and we’ll continue having everything as we have,” stated Cruse.
The project is expected to be completed sometime between October and November.
