NEWTON COUNTY, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – Early Monday morning, a routine safety checkpoint at the intersection of Highway 15 and Highway 492 led to the arrest of Chad Bradlee Neese, 47, of Union.

Neese, driving a green Chevrolet pickup truck, was stopped by Union Police Department Officer Joshua Grimes and members of the Newton County Sheriff’s Office after it was discovered he had a suspended license.

What began as a routine traffic stop quickly escalated into a major drug bust. Upon searching Neese’s vehicle, officers uncovered startling evidence of illegal narcotics.

Initially, a vial labeled as containing anabolic steroids was found. However, subsequent chemical testing revealed a more ominous truth: the vial actually contained liquid fentanyl, a highly potent and deadly Schedule II narcotic responsible for countless fatal overdoses annually.

Additionally, officers discovered a loaded hypodermic syringe suspected to contain liquid methamphetamine, and multiple strips of suboxone, a Schedule III controlled substance.

Following the discovery, Neese was immediately taken into custody and transported to the Newton County Jail.

He now faces serious charges including two counts of possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, one count of possession of a Schedule III controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving with a suspended license.

Authorities caution that the nature and severity of these charges could evolve as the investigation progresses.

In response to the incident, the Union Police Department emphasized the community’s safety as their paramount concern.

“The safety and well-being of our community is our absolute top priority, and this arrest underscores that with the removal of such a dangerous substance from our streets. It also showcases quite admirably the importance of constant vigilance and ready cooperation between law enforcement agencies. The City of Union Police Department is grateful for the strong partnership we have with our neighboring agencies including the Newton County Sheriff’s Office. Together, we will continue to take a stance of zero- tolerance on the trafficking of dangerous illegal substances ensuring that our streets remain safe for all citizens and visitors to the City of Union.”
