Supreme Court Candidate and State Senator Jenifer Branning Visits Meridian

MERIDIAN, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – State Senator Jenifer Branning visited Meridian Tuesday while on her campaign trail for the Mississippi Supreme Court.

Branning made her way around Jean’s restaurant downtown introducing herself to voters and getting to know people in the area.

Branning is a Neshoba County Native and said she has been a practicing attorney for 20 years.

Currently she’s serving as State Senator for the 18th district which encompasses all of Neshoba County and parts of Leake and Winston Counties.

She is also serving as Chair of the Highway and Transportation Committee ond Vice Chair of the Government Structure Committee.

She said she already has few issues she’d like to tackle if elected to the state supreme court.

“Meridian and Lauderdale County is extremely important to this particular district for the court race. So, my purpose in being here today is just to get out and make direct voter contact. I like to see the people that I’m asking to vote for me and to answer their questions. My message is that, I’ve got the experience, the stamina, the knowledge, the expertise, and the desire to serve them on the Mississippi Supreme Court. So, I’m running to be their constitutional conservative on the court,” said Branning.  “I just want to operate fairly. That’s the role of Judiciaries— just to be fair and impartial, you know, in those rulings. One thing I’d like to look at is the efficiency of the court— the time it takes to get cases before the court is something I’m really interested on improving.”

“Justices should be constitutional conservatives, and by that I mean they should follow the law, just as it’s written, nothing more and nothing less. We need justices that are wiling to call balls and strikes, if you will, on the court system. That’s what I’m running to do,” said Branning.

The election will be November 5th.
