NEWTON, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – The Newton Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred in the 700 block of Oak Street.
Responding officers found a victim at the scene, who was airlifted to a nearby hospital; their current condition is not yet known.
Authorities have taken one individual into custody as a person of interest. Charges are expected but are still pending as the investigation continues.
