Arrests Made at Clarke County Structure Fire, Fire Ruled Accidental

CLARKE COUNTY, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – Two people were arrested after a structure fire broke out at an apartment complex on North Glynn Avenue in Quitman around 1 p.m. Sunday, although the fire has been ruled as accidental.

According to Clarke County Hot Topics a structure at Shadowwood apartments was fully engulfed.

When first responders arrived on-scene, a female resident at the apartment complex allegedly charged at volunteer firefighters with a make-shift knife while they were trying to battle the blaze.

A second male individual was also arrested.
Clarke County Hot Topics said “the other individual was a male resident staying at the apartment complex. He was arrested after he allegedly admitted to starting the fire on purpose. Sources say this could have been a domestic violence situation between the make and female individuals that got out of hand.”
After an investigation, the male suspect was cleared of any wrong-doing and the fire was ruled as accidental.
Linda Thompson was arrested at the scene and charged with simple assault on a fireman. Bond will be set for Thompson tomorrow.
