MERIDIAN, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – The Mississippi Arts + Entertainment Experience (The MAX) will host an evening of music and cuisine on Wednesday, September 25, featuring a performance by JEMS, a singer-songwriter trio including Meridian native Sarah Margaret Huff, and a pre-show culinary experience with James Beard finalist Chef Hunter Evans.
JEMS, composed of Jessica Rotter, Emily Colombier, and Huff, will perform an outdoor concert at 7 p.m. in the Citizens National Bank Courtyard. The trio, based in Los Angeles, is on tour promoting their new album “Back Around,” which they describe as “an expansive landscape of enchanting harmonies, adventurous instrumentals, poignant themes, and compelling storytelling.” Memphis-based Cyrena Wages will open for JEMS.
“The MAX is excited to offer this music and food experience celebrating Mississippi’s arts and cultural legacy by highlighting some of our state’s rising talent,” said MAX President and CEO Penny Kemp. “It’s also wonderful to welcome Sarah Margaret Huff back home.”
Members of The MAX are invited to a 5:30 p.m. preshow featuring Evans, owner of the Mayflower Cafe and Elvie’s restaurants in Jackson. Light eats will be provided by Evans, who has recently gained new media attention with the reopening of the iconic Mayflower in downtown Jackson.
“This event nicely complements the Walter Anderson exhibit currently on display and allows us to thank our members for their continued support,” Kemp said.
Tickets for the concert are $20 each or free for MAX members. For ticket purchases and membership details, including annual memberships starting at $50 which offer year-round museum access, visit [www.msarts.org](http://www.msarts.org).
