Meridian Community College to Host Kickoff for Queen City Race for Life and Street Strut

MERIDIAN, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – Meridian Community College (MCC) will host a kickoff presentation on Tuesday, Oct. 1, at 12:30 p.m. at the PTK Courtyard, located behind Ivy-Scaggs Hall. The event coincides with Breast Cancer Awareness Month and will announce the upcoming Queen City Race for Life and Street Strut.

Ambassadors Taymecca Sears and Pam Mosley will attend, along with caregiver ambassador Tom Bradshaw. Once again, MCC’s campus will be awash in pink as the College prepares for the annual event aimed at raising breast cancer awareness.

The Queen City Race for Life and Street Strut will take place on Saturday, Oct. 19, with activities beginning at 8 a.m. at the MCC Track. The event includes a 5K run and walk, a one-mile fun run, and a Survivor Street Strut.

The events honor breast cancer survivors and current patients, while also raising funds for the Baptist Cancer Center-Anderson Patient Benevolence Fund.

“This has and will continue to be a powerful reminder of our dedication to fighting breast cancer and supporting those who have been affected by the disease,” said Phyllis Holladay, MCC math instructor and Phi Theta Kappa advisor, who has organized the event for more than 15 years.

During the race and strut, cancer survivors and ambassadors Pam Mosley and Taymecca Sears will be recognized, along with Tom Bradshaw, who will be honored as a caregiver.
