LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – Mississippi’s 82 Circuit Clerks are encouraging voters to check their calendars ahead of the November 5, 2024, election to ensure they can cast their ballots at their precincts, particularly if they have vacations, conferences, surgeries, or other commitments planned.

For many individuals, absentee voting may be the most convenient option. This includes those in professions like truck driving, shift workers with hours from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., railroad employees, and workers with long commutes, such as those employed at Nissan and in other cities.

College students, who may have differing fall break schedules, are also encouraged to vote absentee if they will be out of town on Election Day.

Voters over the age of 65 are being urged to vote in person at their precinct. Circuit Clerks noted that with the switch to paper, scannable ballots, the voting process is quicker and allows for immediate correction of any mistakes on the ballot. Voters can now expect to “walk in and walk out” with no long lines.

In Lauderdale County, the Circuit Clerk’s office remains located in the old courthouse at 500 Constitution Ave., where absentee ballots can be submitted.

For questions or more information, voters are encouraged to call the Lauderdale County Circuit Clerk’s office at 601-482-9731.
