Salvation Army Announces Angel Tree Sign-Ups Make-Up Day

MERIDIAN, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – The Salvation Army in Meridian will hold a limited-space make-up day for its annual Angel Tree Campaign on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2024. The Angel Tree program provides gifts and clothing to hundreds of children in need during the Christmas season.

“Christmas demands and expectations can overwhelm families experiencing financial and housing stress,” said Lieutenant Roy Fisher, Salvation Army Officer. “We are committed to serving these families at Christmas, helping children experience the magic of the season, and reducing the anxiety for parents trying to provide food and presents.”

This year, the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program will be available only for children 12 years old and under. Parents and guardians in Lauderdale and Kemper Counties must call the Salvation Army at 601-483-6156 between Monday, Oct. 14, and Friday, Oct. 18, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., to schedule an appointment to apply in person at the Salvation Army office, located at 1115 25th Avenue, Meridian.

To apply, parents must bring the following documents:

  1. Valid photo ID for all adults in the household
  2. Social Security cards for everyone in the household
  3. Birth certificates for all children under 12
  4. Proof of all income (SNAP, TANF, SSI, Social Security, Workers’ Compensation, Child Support)
  5. If unemployed, proof of how bills are paid
  6. Lease or mortgage statement
  7. Current utility bill
  8. A written list of the child’s name, age, sex, height, weight, shoe size, clothing size, wishes, and needs

Appointments are required, and a limited number of spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Once all slots are filled, no additional appointments will be scheduled after 3 p.m. on Oct. 18, 2024.

“We are grateful for the community’s support of The Salvation Army in Meridian,” said Lt. Fisher. “Thanks to your generosity, we can continue to provide help and hope to families in need across Lauderdale, Kemper, Neshoba, and Newton Counties.”
