MERIDIAN, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – The body found lying in a yard in the 2100 block of 41st Avenue has been identified as James Williams, 56. According to Lauderdale County Coroner Stella McMahan, Williams died from a gunshot wound.
The investigation is on-going.

The Meridian Police Department received a call about the incident around 7:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 29th, 2024. Upon arrival, officers discovered the deceased individual, whose identity was initially undisclosed.
The body has been sent to the crime lab for further examination to determine the cause of death. Investigators are reviewing the findings to assess the nature of the investigation moving forward.
Acting Captain Dareall Thompson of the Meridian Police Department stated that family members and others connected to the case are currently being interviewed.
