Mississippi Children’s Museum – Meridian Hosts Lights On After School

MERIDIAN, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – The Mississippi Children’s Museum hosted Lights on After School, a campaign that celebrates after school programs nationally.

Tuesday nights event highlighted the museums partnership with the Meridian Public School District and gave parents an opportunity to see more about how the museum helps educate local children through math, literacy, STEAM and the arts.

Tech Tuesday, Wonder Wednesday, Know to Grow Thursday, and Artful Friday are just a few of the themes the museum utilizes in their after school program.

The program also has two certified teachers that help teach things like literacy and math 2 to 3 days a week.

“The Museum offers a whole different experience for the kiddos. It allows them to do things and be enriched in ways that they wouldn’t get any other place but something like this, and it’s so important for the museum to be a part of the community and to get parents in the door and communicating with us, communicating with their kids, and just building a great partnership with the City of Meridian,” said Pauline Mobley, Afterschool Coordinator.

The program is currently serves around 40 Crestwood Elementary students in kindergarten through 5th grade.
