MERIDIAN, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – A truck struck a pole at the intersection of 14th Street Extension and Front Street Monday evening, knocking out phone lines in the area.
The crash occurred around 7 p.m. First responders initially believed the incident involved a power line, but upon further investigation, it was determined that the pole was used to support phone lines, not electrical lines.
The collision caused the phone lines to come down across the roadway, and utility crews have since been dispatched to make repairs and restore service.
The driver, whose identity has not been released, was reported to be out of the vehicle and alert when emergency crews arrived at the scene. He was assessed on-site but did not appear to be seriously injured.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash, and drivers are advised to avoid the area as repairs continue.
