MERIDIAN, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – The Blue Angels are set to headline the Wings Over Meridian air show, returning to Meridian on March 28-29, 2026, marking their first appearance in the area since March 2011.
The event will be a major celebration of Naval Air Station (NAS) Meridian’s 65th anniversary.
The air show will offer spectators a thrilling lineup of aviation displays, with the Blue Angels — the U.S. Navy’s elite demonstration squadron — as the main attraction.
The event is expected to draw large crowds, providing a significant economic boost to the local community while showcasing NAS Meridian’s role in training future Naval Aviators.
“This event brings people in, they stay at our hotels, they eat at our restaurants, they visit our retail shops, and then they of course see what beautiful facilities we have here at NAS Meridian,” said Laura Carmichael, Tourism Director for Visit Meridian. “So we’re excited about it, we’re eager to promote the event. It’s been a while. When you see maybe thousands of people that come here, maybe for the first time, that come to your hometown, so yes, it’s a huge impact,” said Laura Carmichael, Tourism Director for Visit Meridian.
The air show will also offer the public a rare opportunity to tour NAS Meridian, where they can witness firsthand the training programs that prepare the next generation of Naval Aviators.
“This will be our 65th anniversary that we are celebrating here. 65 years in Meridian amongst the local population that have seen generations of Naval Aviators train and come through here,” said Capt. Luke Davis, Commanding Officer at NAS Meridian. “This gets them on base to see what happens here and see the final product, which is the Blue Angels come back and put on a great show. It does bring folks in from all around the region for, you know, hopefully an economy boost, and then really from what the Blue Angels started as, a recruiting tool, so, inspiring people and maybe giving people the ambition to sign a piece of paper and come to the military and give it a shot,” said Captain Luke Davis, Commanding Officer of NAS Meridian.
The Wings Over Meridian air show promises to be a spectacular event, celebrating both NAS Meridian’s long-standing legacy and the excitement of military aviation.
