MERIDIAN, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – Thursday, the residents of Brookdale Meridian gathered for a festive Christmas celebration filled with holiday cheer.
The assisted and independent senior living community hosted its annual Christmas Party at 5 p.m. to spread joy and connect with residents during the season of giving.
The event featured live music, christmas carols, food, and gifts.
“Some residents don’t have family. So, we try to give everybody a gift. If we don’t have enough gifts, we always have backup,” said Felicia Houston, Activity Manger at Brookdale Meridian. “Everybody is going to get a gift. No matter what. So, at the end of the night, we are going to give everybody a gift. All the residents, Everybody has a gift.”
“We’ve got Sheila Walker. She’s signing, she’s playing the piano and singing. Mr. Barry, he came from Heidelberg and he’s our jazz band and just family and friends,” said Houston.
This is at the second year the event has taken place, after resident Laura Sykes came up with the idea to give back to seniors living at the facility.
The event was open to all, with special emphasis on providing a memorable holiday for residents who may not have family to spend the season with.
A heartwarming reminder of the power of community and connection during the holidays.
