MERIDIAN, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – More than 200 fire chiefs and fire vendors from across the state will gather in Meridian this week for the Mississippi Fire Chiefs Association (MFCA) Mid-Winter Conference, a first for the local fire department, officials announced.
The two-day conference will take place on Wednesday and Thursday, Jan. 8 and 9, at the MSU Riley Center. Meridian Fire Department (MFD) Chief Michael Evans expressed excitement about hosting the event for the first time in the city.
“We’re excited to have this opportunity to provide a venue where firefighters from all over Mississippi can network and discuss their legislative agendas and other issues, as well as to show them what Meridian has to offer,” Evans said.
Over 100 fire chiefs from across the state are expected to attend, and vendors will be on hand to showcase the latest products, technologies, and services for fire and rescue professionals. The conference will feature exhibits of fire and EMS apparatus, tools, apparel, and cutting-edge technology.
In addition, a fleet of new fire trucks will be displayed on Fifth Street, in front of the MSU Riley Center, throughout Wednesday and Thursday morning. Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes, as the area will be closed during this time.
The Mississippi Fire Chiefs Association serves as a key resource for both career and volunteer fire chiefs throughout the state. According to its mission statement, the association provides “leadership and direction to both career and volunteer fire chiefs through information, education, services, and representation in order to enhance the full spectrum of services delivered to the citizens of Mississippi.”
The MFCA Mid-Winter Conference will provide a significant opportunity for networking and collaboration among the state’s fire and emergency services professionals.
