MERIDIAN, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) -Wednesday morning at 11 a.m., Elton Reed, owner of Precision Baseball, made his way to City Hall to formally announce his candidacy for the Ward 1 City Council seat. He also paid his qualifying fees, marking the official start of his campaign.
The Ward 1 seat has been held by Dr. George Thomas, who is retiring after serving since 1985. Reed, a lifelong Meridian resident, has deep roots in the community. He and his wife are raising three children here, and Reed is eager to bring fresh ideas to the city he loves.
“I’ve seen both the good and the bad times in Meridian. I’m just trying to bring some fresh ideas and positive change,” said Reed.
If elected, Reed hopes to build strong relationships with the City Council and Mayor to continue building on the city’s successes while working to address crime and create a safer community for all.
