MERIDIAN, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – The Salvation Army of Meridian will open its doors from January 20 to January 22, 2025, to offer warmth and shelter to the homeless and anyone without heat due to the expected freezing temperatures.
The facility, located at 1115 25th Avenue, will be available from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM each day, providing coffee, hot chocolate, and snacks to help individuals stay warm. This service is also extended to essential workers, including line workers and sanitation crews, who are working in the cold to clear streets and maintain public services.
The Salvation Army will enforce certain rules during this time, and those seeking shelter are encouraged to follow the guidelines provided.
For more information or to inquire about volunteer opportunities, contact Lt. Roy Fisher at 601-483-6156 or via email at [email protected].
Residents are encouraged to check on their neighbors and take necessary precautions during the cold snap, including filling up their vehicles with gas.
