University of West Alabama to Close Tuesday, January 21, Due to Weather Conditions

The University of West Alabama will be closed Tuesday, January 21, due to hazardous weather conditions. All university offices will be closed, and no classes will meet on that day.

The Young Hall Cafeteria and Burgers + Fries in Gilbert Hall will remain open from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. for students and staff.

Icy conditions are expected to affect roadways on campus, in Livingston, and across the surrounding area. Road closures are likely, and individuals are advised to use caution when traveling. Only essential travel is recommended, and travelers should avoid roads marked closed by the UWA Public Safety or the Alabama Department of Transportation.

Should weather conditions necessitate further changes to university operations, updates will be communicated via UWA Alerts, the university’s emergency notification system, and posted on the UWA website at www.uwa.edu/weather. Additionally, announcements will be shared with local media.

Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to stay informed about any developments as the situation evolves.
