MERIDIAN, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – The NAACP Meridian Lauderdale County Branch hosted the 40th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Prayer Breakfast this morning at the newly renovated Frank Cochran Center. The ceremony, which began at 8:00 a.m., brought together city leaders, community members, and local organizations to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
During the event, attendees gathered to offer prayers for the city, local and state government, and the community. Prayer topics included the well-being of children and youth, the reduction of gun violence, and improving economic conditions in the area.
A special tribute was also paid to State Representative Charles L. Young Jr., recognizing his contributions to the community and state. The prayer breakfast served as both a spiritual observance and an opportunity for local leaders to come together in support of the community’s growth and unity.
The event was part of a broader series of activities throughout the day commemorating Dr. King’s life and work in the Meridian area.
