A Meridian man has been sentenced to 74 months in federal prison for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
On Thursday, March 27, 2025, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Mississippi announced that 42-year-old Lester Landrum was sentenced after pleading guilty to the offense in December 2024.
According to court documents, Landrum, who was under state correctional supervision as a probationer, was found in possession of a firearm during an operation conducted by the East Mississippi Drug Task Force in Meridian. Due to his prior felony convictions, Landrum was prohibited from possessing firearms.
In addition to the 74-month federal sentence, the court ordered that Landrum’s sentence run consecutive to the unfinished term of his prior state sentence.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office.
Acting U.S. Attorney Patrick A. Lemon announced the sentencing, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Samuel Goff prosecuted the case.
