MERIDIAN, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – Meridian Police Department responded to a reported assault on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, in front of the Women’s Wellness Institute, located at the intersection of 24th Avenue and 16th Street. Officers arrived on the scene and proceeded to a nearby residence on 25th Avenue and 16th Street, where they began removing occupants from the house. Several officers had their weapons drawn during the operation.
Initial reports from the scene suggested that the victim may have been shot, but after further investigation, police determined the incident was an assault, not a shooting. The condition of the victim remains unknown at this time.
At least two individuals were handcuffed at the residence, and a Queen City Newsfeed reporter witnessed one individual being escorted into a squad car. It remains unclear whether the individuals taken into custody are connected to the assault outside the Women’s Wellness Institute or to another aspect of the investigation.
The Meridian Police Department was assisted at the scene by Metro Ambulance Services.
An investigation is ongoing, and further details have not been released. Authorities are expected to provide more information as the situation develops.
