MERIDIAN, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – Percy Bland secured a decisive victory in the Democratic mayoral primary during the Meridian Municipal Elections on Tuesday, April 1. With more than 67% of the vote, Bland will move on to face Independent Candidate Jimmy Copeland in the general election on June 3, 2025.
There will be no runoff for the mayoral race, as Bland’s overwhelming win ensures his spot in the upcoming election.
However, a runoff will be held for the Ward 3 City Council seat in Meridian. Voters in Ward 3 will return to the polls on April 22, 2025, to decide the winner. Residents are reminded to check their voter registration card for the correct precinct location for voting.
Bland celebrated his victory at a watch party held at Drury Inn, where he thanked his supporters and looked ahead to the general election in June. The focus now shifts to the broader race for the future of Meridian.
