MERIDIAN, Miss. ( Queen City Newsfeed)- April marks Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Awareness Month, a time to honor survivors, raise awareness, and advocate for a safer future for all. Wesley House, a local nonprofit organization, is hosting a series of events throughout the month to support this cause and highlight the importance of safety, love, and joy for every person.
The community is invited to participate in two impactful events: Pinwheels for Prevention and Lights of Hope and Healing.
Pinwheels for Prevention will take place on April 2, 2025, at 9:00 AM at The Children’s Museum in Meridian, MS, and again on April 9, 2025, at 9:00 AM at The Historic Train Depot in Philadelphia, MS. The event will feature the planting of colorful pinwheels to symbolize the joy and innocence that every child deserves.
On the evening of April 2, 2025, at 5:00 PM, Lights of Hope and Healing will be held at Dumont Plaza in Meridian. This candlelight service will honor those affected by child abuse and sexual assault, providing a space for reflection, support, and healing. Another candlelight service will take place on April 10, 2025, at 5:30 PM at The Neshoba County Courthouse in Philadelphia, MS.
These events provide the community with an opportunity to come together in support of survivors while working toward a safer and more loving environment for all.
Wesley House encourages all members of the community to participate and show their support for survivors and prevention efforts. Wesley House also encourages everyone who can to wear blue for the child abuse events and teal for the sexual assault events.
