LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – Two seniors at West Lauderdale High School made their commitment to military service official Thursday morning during a Military Signing Ceremony held on campus.
Zane Wood and Crayton Allen, who have been best friends since childhood, each signed to join the Air National Guard, marking a significant step in their post-graduation plans.
“You can’t beat it,” said Wood. “It feels good to be able to say you’re in the U.S. Military.”
Allen echoed the excitement and spoke about the long-term benefits of joining. “It teaches you discipline, and it gets you a head start in your life,” Allen said. “I mean, you can do it part time and get you a full-time job and have that to fall back on, and it looks good on whatever you do.”
School officials, family, and friends were in attendance to celebrate the pair’s commitment. The signing highlighted not only their individual achievements, but the unique bond between two lifelong friends choosing to serve their country together.
