MERIDIAN, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed)- The Meridian Public School District is set to host its annual Festival of the Arts, a vibrant celebration of student creativity, talent, and expression, on Thursday, April 24, 2025. The event will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at The Mississippi Arts + Entertainment Experience (The MAX), with student performances beginning at 5:30 p.m.
The free, community-wide event will highlight student achievements across a broad spectrum of the arts, including visual art, choir, dance, theater, culinary arts, piano, band, media arts, and more. Attendees can enjoy a lively evening of performances, exhibits, and demonstrations that reflect the depth of artistic talent in the district.
We are excited to once again celebrate the diverse talents of our students and to share their hard work and passion with the community, said Antonio Altman, MPSD District Arts Director. The Festival of the Arts is an important part of our commitment to arts education and creative expression.
The festival is a collaborative effort between the Meridian Public School District, The MAX, and Any Given Child Meridian, all working together to ensure equitable access to the arts for students in the community.
Inspiring young people to engage in the arts is core to our mission, and incorporating arts into the classroom is a proven strategy to increase attendance and improve academic performance, said Penny Kemp, President and CEO of The MAX. We applaud MPSD for their efforts and are honored to highlight these students and their artistic pursuits as we leverage the arts to support educational initiatives and build a stronger community.
