Meridian to “Paint the Plaza Purple” in Support of Alzheimer’s Awareness

MERIDIAN, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – Downtown Meridian is set to turn purple on Tuesday, April 22, for “Paint the Plaza Purple,” a community-focused event aimed at raising awareness and funds for the Alzheimer’s Association. The event will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Dumont Plaza.

“Paint the Plaza Purple” will feature an evening of dining, shopping, and live entertainment. A portion of the night’s proceeds will benefit the Alzheimer’s Association in support of care, research, and awareness in the fight against the disease.

Live performances will include music by Daniel Houze and Lach Thornton, along with DJ sets from Garrett Ip and Marc B. Family-friendly activities and refreshments will be available, with beverage support from Magnolia Beverage and Coca-Cola.

At 8:00 p.m., the community will gather for a special luminary lighting ceremony to honor those affected by Alzheimer’s disease.

Participating downtown restaurants and businesses include Aie’s One Ten Main, Brickhaus, Harvest Grill, The Island, Mia’s Caffè, Threefoot Brewing, and Weidmann’s. These establishments will offer special dine-and-donate opportunities throughout the evening, contributing to the event’s fundraising efforts.

Attendees are encouraged to wear purple in solidarity and help fill local businesses in support of the cause.
