MERIDIAN, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed)-The Mississippi Children’s Museum – Meridian (MCM-Meridian) is inviting families to get active and have fun during its annual SUPER-lympics, presented by Baptist Anderson Regional Medical Center, on Saturday, May 3 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Held at MCM-Meridian’s downtown campus, the event will transform the museum into a “SUPER-lympic Village,” offering hands-on, educational games and activities designed to promote physical and mental health for children of all ages.
The day begins with an Opening Ceremony, followed by a variety of physical and wellness-based games centered around three key themes: physical activity, healthy eating, and social/emotional health.
For younger children, the event will feature games that build fine and gross motor skills, spatial awareness, and agility. Older children can participate in challenges that boost flexibility, aerobic fitness, and muscle strength.
Highlights of the day include:
-
A golf putting green
-
Basketball and fitness stations
-
“Games in the Garden”
-
Appearances by Miss Mississippi Becky Williams
-
Performances from the Meridian Community College Dance Team
“Our goal is to empower children and families with tools for healthier living,” museum organizers said in a statement. “By connecting with local healthcare providers and creating engaging, educational experiences, we hope to inspire lifelong wellness habits.”
Admission to the SUPER-lympics is included with the museum’s $10 general admission or membership. For more information and a full schedule of events, visit www.mcmmeridian.org.
