MERIDIAN, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – Families looking for free Halloween fun have a place to go this weekend. The Carter Foundation will host Meridian Fright Night on 8th Street on Saturday, Oct. 31. The event runs from 4 to 6 p.m.
This is the 12th year for the event. Also, admission is free, according to a flyer from the foundation.
What to expect
The flyer lists plenty for kids and families to enjoy. There will be candy stations, games, and bounce houses. In addition, there will be a costume contest and a haunted house.
So, kids can wear their costumes and get a head start on Halloween night.
Where to go
The event will be at 2415 8th Street in Meridian. However, the flyer does not list a rain plan. If the weather looks bad, check the foundation’s social media before you go.
A community effort
Fright Night takes help from many people in the area. Last year, groups like MCC’s My College Cares, Walmart, Sam’s Club, and Meridian High athletes helped set it up, WTOK reported. Also, young people mentored by the foundation pitched in.
About the Carter Foundation
James Carter and his wife, Misty Carter, started the foundation in 2014, the Meridian Star reported. Carter grew up in Meridian. The nonprofit works to educate, motivate, and lift up local youth.
The group also owns a Youth Academy on 8th Street, WTOK reported. Kids there get mentoring and support.
Also, the group has said it always needs volunteers. So, people who want to help with youth programs can reach out to the group.
