“Squatted” Vehicles Officially Banned in Mississippi

JACKSON, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – Effective today, July 1st, 2024, Mississippi has implemented a new law banning “squatted vehicles.”

House Bill 349 specifically targets vehicles where the front fenders are raised four or more inches higher than the rear fenders, often achieved through adjustments to the suspension, frame, or chassis.

This bipartisan-supported legislation aims to improve road safety by addressing visibility issues associated with such modifications.

Drivers caught operating squatted vehicles on public roads starting today will face the following penalties:

  • First offense: A $100 fine
  • Second offense: A $200 fine
  • Third and subsequent offenses: A $300 fine and a one-year suspension of the driver’s license
