LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – This week marks the final deadline for voters needing to cast absentee ballots for the upcoming election. All 82 Circuit Clerks in Mississippi are urging residents to check their calendars to ensure they can vote in their precincts on November 5, 2024, particularly if they have scheduled vacations, conferences, or medical appointments.
Many professions require absentee voting, including truck drivers, workers on 12-hour shifts, railroad employees, and those commuting to jobs at Nissan and other locations. Additionally, college students with varying spring break schedules are reminded to vote when they are home.
To assist voters, all Circuit Clerk offices will be open this Saturday from 8 a.m. until noon on November 3rd. This extended hours initiative aims to accommodate those who cannot visit during regular office hours, which run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays. November 3 is the last day for in-person absentee voting.
Voters aged 65 and older are encouraged to visit their precincts, where they can use paper, scannable ballots instead of touch screens. This method allows voters to address any mistakes immediately, ensuring a smoother voting experience without long lines.
For those wishing to vote absentee, Lauderdale County’s Circuit Clerk’s office is located in the old Courthouse at 500 Constitution Ave. For additional questions, residents can call 601-482-9731.
