Mississippi joins 15-state human trafficking operation; six victims recovered in Jackson

Attorney General Lynn Fitch

Attorney General Lynn Fitch announced Wednesday that her office led Mississippi’s role in a national human trafficking operation spanning 15 states and involving 150+ law enforcement agencies. In Jackson, the effort resulted in one felony arrest and the recovery of six victims, according to the AG’s Office.

“Human trafficking is not confined by state borders and our response shouldn’t be either,” Fitch said, emphasizing partnerships with federal, state, and local agencies.

The sweep—Operation Coast to Coast—was initiated in 2024 by the Human Trafficking Training Center (HTTC) to coordinate nationwide enforcement. The 2025 multi-state push occurred October 16, 2025, yielding 34 arrests and 68 victim recoveries nationwide.

Mississippi participating agencies included Alcoholic Beverage Control, Mississippi Capitol Police, FBI, Hinds County Sheriff’s Department, and the Jackson Police Department.

Victim support and services were provided by the Center for Violence Prevention.

Since launching Be the Solution, the AG’s Office says it has trained 588 officers statewide. The human trafficking team has led 61 multi-jurisdictional operations, resulting in the rescue of 380 victims and 198 arrests, along with numerous investigative leads.
