Lauderdale County to Host Household Hazardous Waste Amnesty Day on Nov. 15

LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – Lauderdale County residents will have the opportunity to safely dispose of household hazardous materials during the upcoming Household Hazardous Waste Amnesty Day, scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 15, 2025, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The event will be held at the Lauderdale County Road Department, located at 210 Windmill Drive in Meridian.

Officials say the amnesty day provides residents a free and environmentally responsible way to get rid of hazardous or difficult-to-dispose-of materials that can pose risks to health and the environment if not handled properly.

Accepted items include pesticides, solvents, fertilizers, paint, aerosol cans, paint thinners, antifreeze, batteries, brake fluid, fluorescent bulbs, stale gasoline, used oil (up to five gallons), and up to five passenger vehicle tires per household. Appliances, televisions, computers, cell phones, expired medications, and sharps such as needles and lancets will also be accepted.
