MERIDIAN, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – The NAACP Meridian–Lauderdale County Branch will host its 41st annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Prayer Breakfast on Monday, Jan. 19, continuing a long-standing tradition of reflection, unity and community engagement in honor of the civil rights leader.
The event will take place at the Frank Cochran Center, located at 1725 Carousel Drive in Meridian. Doors will open at 7:30 a.m., with the program scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m.
This year’s theme is “The Fierce Urgency of Now,” a phrase drawn from Dr. King’s writings and speeches that emphasized immediate action in the pursuit of justice, equality and civil rights.
Tickets for the prayer breakfast are $20 per person, with tables available for $175. Proceeds from the event support the local NAACP’s ongoing advocacy, educational initiatives and community programs.
The annual prayer breakfast serves as both a memorial to Dr. King’s legacy and a call to continued service and civic responsibility within the Meridian and Lauderdale County communities.
