Prom time is a special time for our students families and schools. It’s a time to celebrate. Make memories and enjoy the moment. At the Meridian Police Department our priority is simple. We want every student to have a great night and get home safely.
We’re asking everyone to make smart choices and look out for one another do not drink and drive if you’re under 21 do not consume alcohol follow all traffic laws, including speed limits, especially in neighborhoods and near schools.
Be aware of your surroundings and watch for reckless or impaired drivers. Remember that officers will be out across the city, including safety checkpoints to help keep our community safe.
Be mindful of what you consume. Please remember, do not accept drinks or substances from others. Make decisions that protect your health and your future. Plan ahead and travel with people you trust and stay together. Remember to make sure everyone in your group has a safe way home.
This is the night to remember, so make sure it’s remembered for all the right reasons.
Assistant Chief Dareall Thompson reminds everyone, “ Prom night should be about celebration not consequences. Make smart choices stay aware. Look out for each other. One good decision can make all the difference.”
Chief Malachi Sanders said, “Our responsibility is to protect this community, and that includes our young people on one of the most important nights of their year. We will be present. We will be proactive and we will do everything we can to ensure a safe and successful prom season.”
