MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) – The Lauderdale County School District has been honored by receiving the 2026 Governor’s Award of Partnership Excellence.
The district was recognized for its partnership with the Meridian-Lauderdale County Public Library and the LCSD Foundation. The partnership was designed to bridge the resource gap by ensuring that high-quality learning tools remain available outside the standard school day. With this 24-7 access to physical and digital collections, the district ensures that nights, weekends and summer breaks are filled with additional learning opportunities.
“I think this award acknowledges the work being done day in and day out,” said Dr. Marie Roberts, LCSD Director of Career Readiness & Academic Innovation. “It celebrates the success that’s been occurring up to this point but also builds on the future work we’re doing to grow literacy access across our school district. We can provide resources beyond the school day like nights, weekends and summer breaks.”
The Lauderdale County School District was officially recognized during the 24th Annual Governor’s Awards Celebration at William Carey University in Hattiesburg.
