LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) — Allen Swamp Road has reopened to vehicular traffic following temporary repairs, according to an update Wednesday from the Lauderdale County Road and Bridge Department.
County officials said the road reopened after crews relocated a cross drain and completed temporary repair work in the area.
Motorists are still advised to use caution while traveling through the area, as additional work is planned to complete permanent repairs.
A portion of the road near 10571 Allen Swamp Road was closed June 23 after county officials said recent heavy rain and deteriorating infrastructure caused a cross drain to fail.
The closure allowed Road and Bridge crews to make emergency repairs and replace the failed cross drain to ensure the safety of the traveling public.
