Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Rodeo returning to Meridian in November

LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – The Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Rodeo will return to Meridian in November, bringing two nights of family entertainment while raising money for a local organization.

The 2nd Annual Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Rodeo is scheduled for Nov. 20-21, 2026, at the Lauderdale County Ag Center. Gates will open at 5 p.m. each night, with rodeo action beginning at 7 p.m.

The sheriff’s office launched the event last year, drawing a strong turnout and raising money to benefit Wesley House Community Center and Care Lodge.

Lauderdale County Sheriff Ward Calhoun said the idea for the rodeo developed after discussions at a sheriffs’ conference several years ago about rodeos and other community events. Those conversations eventually led local organizers to work together to bring the event to Lauderdale County.

Calhoun said the rodeo was created as a way for the sheriff’s office to provide family-friendly entertainment while also supporting organizations serving the community.

This year, the Boys and Girls Club of East Mississippi has been selected to receive proceeds from the event.

Boys and Girls Club of East Mississippi Executive Director Ricky Hood said being selected as a beneficiary is meaningful to the organization and the hundreds of children it serves. Hood said the organization sees about 600 children in its after-school programs across East Mississippi and that money received through the rodeo will be put to use supporting those children.

Children ages 5 and younger will be admitted free.

Advance tickets are available through the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office, and tickets will also be sold at the gate each night.

Additional updates about the rodeo will be available through the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.
