VICKSBURG, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) — A boxing promoter who held events throughout the area faces a felony warrant for sexual battery of a minor which was served following a police pursuit that ended in a crash on Interstate 20 in Vicksburg.
Julian Dale Childress, 50, remains in custody after the Vicksburg Police Department received a felony warrant from Lamar County authorities. Childress will also face a felony fleeing charge in connection with a pursuit that occurred Friday.

According to the Vicksburg Police Department, officers attempted to stop Childress on Interstate 20 East near Indiana Avenue. Childress did not stop and continued eastbound at a high rate of speed, prompting a pursuit that carried into Warren County. Near the weigh station, Childress lost control of the vehicle, which overturned multiple times before coming to rest. Officers removed Childress from the vehicle and he was transported for medical treatment. Upon his release from care, he was to be charged with felony fleeing.
Childress has not been convicted of any crime, and the charges against him remain allegations at this time.
Childress operated Bout Time Brawlin’, a promotional company that organized combat sports events across the region. The company had an event scheduled for August 29 in Meridian at the Frank Cochran Center.
In a statement posted to social media, Childress’s wife, Carla, announced the cancellation of the Meridian event and confirmed that Bout Time Brawlin’ and its affiliated promotion, Bout Time Boxing, would cease operations effective immediately, with no future events planned under either name. She wrote that there are circumstances surrounding the situation that she cannot discuss publicly, and she asked fighters and coaches preparing for the Meridian card to continue training despite the cancellation. She directed questions about the event or about matters involving the Mississippi Athletic Commission to Commissioner Randy Phillips.
Queen City Newsfeed reached out to Phillips’s office for comment; the call was not returned by publication time. The Lamar County Sheriff’s Department also did not return calls seeking comment.
This is a developing story. Queen City Newsfeed will update as more information becomes available.
