MERIDIAN, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – The Meridian Police Benevolent Association is preparing to hit the links for a cause as it plans its 32nd annual golf tournament this fall.
The association’s four-person scramble is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 9, at Lakeview Golf Course in Meridian. Proceeds from the tournament will help support the organization’s Christmas With a Cop program, which provides Christmas assistance to underprivileged children.
The tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
Registration is $45 per person or $180 for a four-person team. The entry fee includes green fees, a golf cart, food, beverages and prizes.

Prizes will be awarded to the first-, second- and third-place teams. Golfers will also have opportunities to compete in men’s and women’s longest drive contests and closest-to-the-pin contests on two holes.
The Meridian Police Benevolent Association is also seeking businesses to support the fundraiser through whole-hole sponsorships. Organizers say the sponsorships provide businesses with an opportunity to promote themselves while supporting local law enforcement officers, their families and the Christmas With a Cop program.
The annual event combines competition with fundraising as the association works to support its community and help provide Christmas gifts to local children.
