Union School Employee Who Resigned Was Arrested on Drug Charges, Records Show

MERIDIAN, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) A Union Public School District employee who resigned last week was charged with illegal possession of a controlled substance in September, according to an arrest report obtained by Queen City Newsfeed.

Arrest Confirmed by Sheriff’s Office

The Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office arrest report shows that deputies arrested Austin Davidson on Sept. 16. The report lists one charge of illegal possession of a controlled substance.

That same day, the district posted a statement on Facebook saying the sheriff’s office had arrested a district employee on drug related charges. The district did not name the employee.

“The employee has been placed on administrative leave,” the statement read. “The District will work closely with the investigating law enforcement agency throughout this process.”

The district also stressed that student safety remains its top priority. According to the statement, the district had no information indicating that students were ever in danger or that the alleged conduct involved students.

“Because this is an ongoing legal matter, there will be no further comment at this time,” the district said.
