Clarkdale Attendance Center Unveils New State-of-the-Art Softball Field After Tornado Destruction

MERIDIAN, Miss. (Queen City Newsfeed) – Clarkdale Attendance Center celebrated the completion of its new state-of-the-art softball field with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at noon today. This milestone comes after the previous field was severely damaged by two tornadoes in 2022, forcing student-athletes to adapt and continue playing under challenging conditions.

The newly constructed facility boasts a range of upgraded amenities, including modern batting cages, spacious bleachers, updated dugouts, and a convenient concession stand. These improvements are designed to enhance the experience for both players and fans.
The ribbon-cutting event drew a crowd of local officials, community members, and supporters, all gathered to commemorate the completion of the field and to recognize the resilience of the Clarkdale community and its student-athletes, who persevered through adversity.
“I think it’s one of the best facilities in 2A… It’s something people can be proud of. I think we have a great coach and great ball players and great parents involved, and this will be good for the community,” said Dr. John-Mark Cain, Superintendent of the Lauderdale County School District.
Grant Hill, Clarkdale Softball Coach, also expressed his gratitude for the support that made the new field possible. “I feel a ton of gratitude. I want to tell everybody thank you for getting this done and getting it done the right way… It’s one of the nicest programs in 2A. It takes the community here, it takes board members, it takes the Lauderdale County School District… A lot of people have to do a lot of really great things for us to have this, so I just want to tell them thank you.”
The new softball field marks a significant step forward for the school and its athletic program, symbolizing both recovery from the past and a bright future ahead for the student-athletes of Clarkdale.
