LOS ANGELES, Cali. (Queen City Newsfeed) – Jamal Roberts, a native of Meridian, Mississippi, secured a spot in the Top 8 on American Idol after delivering a standout performance of Carrie Underwood’s hit song “Undo It.”
Roberts captivated the judges and live audience with his energetic rendition during Sunday night’s episode. In a lighthearted moment, he tossed his cowboy hat toward the judges’ panel. Judge Luke Bryan caught the hat, but after realizing it was meant for Underwood, he passed it along to her. Underwood then placed the hat on her head as the audience erupted in applause.
Roberts’ performance earned him enough votes to continue in the competition, marking another milestone in his journey through Season 23 of the long-running singing competition.
He will perform live again on Monday night, May 5, as the Top 8 contestants compete for a place in the Top 7.
American Idol airs live on ABC.
