In anticipation of the upcoming federal REAL ID deadline, the Mississippi Department of Public Safety’s Driver Service Bureau will open select locations on three upcoming Saturdays to help residents obtain compliant identification.

The designated Saturdays are April 12, April 26, and May 3, with office hours from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. These extended hours aim to serve Mississippians who still need to update their driver’s license or ID to meet REAL ID requirements.

The following Driver Service Bureau locations will be open on these dates:

  • Biloxi

  • Brookhaven

  • Greenwood

  • Hattiesburg West

  • Jackson

  • Meridian

  • Nesbit

  • New Albany

  • Pearl

  • Tupelo

Appointments can be scheduled online at www.driverservicebureau.dps.ms.gov, though walk-ins are welcome.

The REAL ID deadline is May 7, 2025. After that date, anyone wishing to board a commercial flight or enter certain federal buildings will be required to show a REAL ID-compliant license or identification card.

As of April 1, 97.1% of Mississippi drivers are already compliant. The Mississippi Department of Public Safety is working to ensure the remaining residents have every opportunity to meet the deadline.

To verify if your license is REAL ID-compliant, look for a gold star in the top right corner of the card.

To obtain a REAL ID, bring the following documents to your appointment:

  • Original birth certificate

  • Original Social Security card

  • Two proofs of Mississippi residency
