Mississippi Aquarium launches $9 million campaign for new African penguin habitat

GULFPORT – Mississippi Aquarium is asking for public support as it works to raise $9 million for a new permanent home for its growing African penguin colony.

The aquarium’s Project Penguin campaign will help fund construction of Penguin Pointe, a new building designed to house the African penguins on the aquarium’s Gulfport campus.

Mississippi Aquarium said its African penguin colony has grown over the past two years, increasing the need for a dedicated habitat.

According to campaign materials, donations to Project Penguin will go directly toward construction of the new facility.

The aquarium is also offering recognition opportunities for donors who contribute to the campaign.

Once completed, Penguin Pointe will serve as the permanent home for the aquarium’s African penguin colony.

More information about Project Penguin and donation opportunities is available through the Mississippi Aquarium.
